Our open house will showcase demonstrations of the tools available to makers. Tour our space, enjoy light refreshments and start planning your next project. The Makerspace gives students, faculty, and staff hands-on access to emerging digital fabrication technologies, including 3D printers, 3D scanners, desktop CNC mill, circuit board printer, a laser cutter, and many other Maker tools.
Hosted by Nvidia, Mark III Systems and NC State OIT, each session features industry experts who will dive into a current trend around Al/ML via tutorials and hands-on rapid labs. Anyone interested in these topics is welcome to register. Register separately for each session you are interested in attending.

State of Change: Natural Solutions - Screening and Panel Discussion
Please join us in person (or virtually) on Thursday, April 20, at 7 PM, for a special screening of State of Change: Natural Solutions, followed by a panel discussion with scientists and journalists from around the state who will provide an up-close look at climate change issues and answer your questions in-person and via the virtual chat. Two NC State faculty members from CALS are featured in the segment: Matt Ricker and Alex Woodley.
The Integrative Science Initiative and the N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative are excited to announce that medical ethnobotanist Cassandra Quave will presenting a seminar at NC State. As a medical ethnobotanist, Dr. Quave’s work focuses on the documentation and pharmacological evaluation of plants used in traditional medicine. Her science memoir, The Plant Hunter: A Scientist’s Quest for Nature’s Next Medicines, was published in 2021.

Join us on Thursday, May 4, 2023 starting at 3:00pm EST as we turn the focus on the university’s role in talent and workforce development and academic research into workforce and leadership for a new generation. In a departure from our usual Emerging Research Showcase series, we’ll meet some of the faculty who focus on developing agricultural, food system, and life sciences leaders, transformational leadership, pedagogy, and “showcase” professional development, certificate, and professional science masters programs.
Phil Taylor, Director of Open Innovation and Outreach at Bayer, will give an open seminar on May 11 at 10:30am in Seminar Room 1322 B&C at the Plant Sciences Building. He will be speaking about Bayer, the needs and opportunities for innovation in agriculture, Bayer’s approach to R&D and partnering, working in industry and more specifically, working at Bayer.
