Careers in Regulatory Science in Agriculture
Today’s agriculture and AgTech industry employers want and need to hire more professionals with regulatory science experience and understanding, but those candidates are hard to find. People who have these skill sets and have a degree in agriculture and life science are in high demand.
In a recent survey from the Center of Excellence in Regulatory Science in Agriculture (CERSA) of 254 individuals working in a broad range of agriculture and life science companies, 91% of respondents indicated that one or more future positions in their company would require or benefit from training in regulatory science in agriculture.
When asked about the future need for professionals with regulatory science in agriculture training, 48% said demand will increase slightly over the next five to 10 years, while 28% thought demand would increase substantially.
Areas within agriculture where respondents saw the most interest/highest need include:
- regulatory affairs (81%)
- compliance, regulation, policy and law (77%)
- risk management (66%)
- crop protection (58%)
- biologicals (56%)
- trait/gene editing (41%)
- regulatory writing (39%)
