Congratulations, Class of 2024!
On behalf of the Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences faculty and staff, I congratulate you on your accomplishments and wish you the very best as you soon embark on the next phase in your professional life. As you reminisce about your college career at NC State, I want each of you to remember that you successfully completed a demanding course of study after years of sacrifice, dedication, and perseverance.

Information
Tickets: Tickets for the Departmental Graduation Ceremony are not required for your guests and there will be no assigned seating.
Parking: Parking in the front lots of the McKimmon Center is free and usually plentiful. There are three smaller parking lots on each side of the center reserved for university employees. Visitors are asked to park in designated visitor parking spaces to avoid ticketing. For more information about McKimmon Center visit: https://mckimmoncenter.ncsu.edu.
Ceremony: Give yourself plenty of time to find parking and locate the venue. If you are unable to attend, notify Ms. Pam Van Emden by email at plvanemd@ncsu.edu. For your friends and family who are unable to attend, live streaming will be available for the Fall 2024 graduation ceremony.
Reminders:
- Wear your regalia (cap and gown). The faculty will do the same.
- Arrive no later than 12:45 PM and assemble in the lobby for organization and to review ceremony procedures. We will process into the room at 1:30 PM sharp.
- Cameras are allowed. Family members are encouraged to move into the aisles or to the front of the room to take pictures when it is your turn to be on stage.**
- Accepting your diploma. When your name is called, walk on stage, accept your diploma cover (diplomas are mailed at a later date) and shake hands with your program coordinator, a CALS representative, and the department head.
- Recess out of the auditorium after the ceremony. Stay close together after this and re-enter the auditorium for group photos.
- Stay for refreshments. After the ceremony, you and your guests are invited to stay for refreshments and introduce your family and friends to the faculty and staff.
**A professional photographer will be at the graduation to take pictures. Access to the images will be available via download from the department website. Note that the images will be available to the entire graduating class as we will not be able to give individual access to every student.
Note for Undergraduate Students: During commencement, a PowerPoint slide with a picture provided by you will be displayed as you walk across the stage — perhaps a photo of just yourself or you with friends and/or family (remember, this is a family event). Along with the picture, you will be able to express your appreciation to whomever you like and share with the audience your plans (graduate school, job, travel, etc). To create your personalized slide:
- Download the FBNS Graduation PowerPoint Template
- Complete your graduation slide by updating the Template with your information and picture.
- The slide should be saved as a PowerPoint and named as follows: Your major_Lastname.ppt (Ex: BBS_Jimenez.ppt, FS_Jimenez.ppt, NTS_Jimenez.ppt).
- Email the finished PowerPoint slide to Ms. Pam Van Emden at plvanemd@ncsu.edu no later than Monday, November 25, 2024.
By submitting the above material, you are hereby giving the department permission to use the content that showcases our graduating students. The content may also be shared on NC State hosted platforms such as a website or social media. If you do not want your picture available to the public, please email Ms. Van Emden at plvanemd@ncsu.edu.
Note for Graduate Students: During the commencement celebration, your Faculty Advisor will give a brief introduction about you and your work. Then, you will have an opportunity to speak briefly, acknowledging family and friends, and share with the audience your future plans (job, travel, etc).
