Bio

Acer VanWallendael focuses on the intersection of plant evolutionary genetics and weed science, studying many aspects of weed science through the lens of ecology, evolution and genetics to understand large-scale ecological patterns and microevolutionary processes. His lab collaborates widely to use evolutionary concepts to understand weed management and to use weeds and invasive species as empirical evolutionary models for rapid evolution.  Current research examines the genetic basis of weediness traits like herbicide resistance and flowering time variation, temporal trends in evolutionary pace and eco-evolutionary dynamics of domestication and weediness.
