Bio

Praveen Kolar’s research focuses on novel agricultural waste management, waste valorization engineering and bioprocessing engineering. Kolar has directed 6 doctoral dissertations and 10 master’s theses and has served on 20 graduate student committees, resulting in over 70 refereed publications in various international journals.

He teaches Transport Phenomena to all undergraduate biological engineering students and Introduction to Food Processing Engineering to bioprocessing engineering students.

Kolar is a recipient of the 2021 North Carolina State University Outstanding Teacher Award and is a member of NC State’s Academy of Outstanding Teachers. He is a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and the Air and Waste Management Association.

He is also the author of the textbook Transport Phenomena for Biological and Agricultural Engineers: A Problem-Based Approach, published by McGraw Hill.
