Below are a few resources that may be helpful. Also, please contact your professors and mentors for anything you need.

Horticultural Science Graduate Student Association

The Horticultural Science Graduate Student Association (HSGSA) creates opportunities for graduate students to network with each other, department members, other graduate students at NC State, and scholars outside of the university.

Functions

  • Serve as a connection to the University Graduate Student Association (UGSA)
  • Organize networking activities such as lunch with external seminar speakers
  • Develop scientific outreach activities
  • Coordinate social activities such as graduate student recruitment weekends

Graduate Peer Mentors in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences provide support, encouragement and information to help graduate students adjust to and excel in our department. Our current Graduate Peer Mentor is Kyle Freedman, a PhD student. Feel free to reach out to Kyle for a call or in-person meeting.

Graduate Seminar

The Graduate Seminar is held in 121 Kilgore Hall, on Mondays from 3:00-4:00 PM (unless otherwise noted). Current graduate students moderate discussions that alternate between ongoing research projects in horticulture laboratories and recent topics from the scientific literature.

All members of horticultural science are welcome to attend. Please check the departmental calendar for the complete schedule.

Mental Health Resources

The Counseling Center provides mental health services and resources to students — together we can create a thriving community for all students.
