To translate the advances and discoveries in basic research into applied research, Dr. Liu established an externally-funded research and education program using modern genetics, genomics, or other research tools to improve specialty crops of economic importance. The research projects in his program focus on the development of novel methods and biotechnologies, understanding of the molecular mechanisms of agronomic traits, and bioengineering of crop traits. As a candidate for tenure application and promotion, Dr. Liu will present an overview of his program’s progress and achievements and a vision of his program directions at NC State.
