Summary:
As a Professor of Small Fruit in the Department of Horticultural Science, I have one of the best jobs at the University. My job is a blend of applied science in the field, upstream science in the lab, mentoring students, working with agents and growers, and sharing the love of what I do. My “mixed” appointment has taught me to adapt to change, pivot to new opportunities, and continue to learn and contribute to the science of small fruits. From cultivar development, improvement of cultural practices, the establishment of a new crop, to the discovery of sources of disease resistance, many lessons have been learned.
