Summary:
I have worked in the Department of Horticultural Science at North Carolina State for over 30 years, and spent the bulk of my time and energies working with sweetpotato and cucurbit crops. The program I lead involves working on various aspects of production to discover best cultural management strategies to move the science forward yet find options or solutions that can be adopted and better the industry. Some areas of emphasis involve stand establishment, nutrition, cultivar evaluation, and postharvest. I have a collaborative program and enjoy the opportunity to work with many individuals across disciplines with varying expertises. It is exciting and dynamic to work on the front line with agents, growers and the industry at large. It is also rewarding to mentor graduate students. I will highlight a few successes during the past five years but also look forward to some of the new projects that I will be embarking upon.
