Bio
Dr. Wusheng Liu is an assistant professor in Translational Genomics and Plant Bioengineering within the Department of Horticultural Science. Currently, the Liu laboratory is interested in:
i) development of novel approaches for non-GMO, genotype-independent delivery of the CRISPR/Cas9 system into crops for gene editing;
ii) understanding of the molecular mechanisms of agronomic traits including tomato bacterial wilt resistance, seed size, and tomato fruit lycopene content; and
iii) crop trait engineering using genetic engineering and gene editing such as rose rosette virus resistance and modified flowering patterns and CRISPR pollen for restricting pollen-mediated gene flow.
The Liu laboratory is also interested in computational tool-assisted de novo motif discovery and synthetic promoter engineering.
His laboratory is looking for a postdoc and a graduate student.
Dr. Liu teaches HS/GN/CS/720 Molecular Biology in Plant Breeding (3 credit hours) at 11:45 am – 1:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday in each Spring.
