Lunch and Lit in the Garden: Wishtree (Grades 5-8)
November 3, 2022 | 8:00 am - 10:00 am EDT
The JC Raulston Arboretum invites students in grades fifth through eighth to the garden to sit, relax and listen to Wishtree by Katherine Applegate. Wishtree is a timely tale told by a tree named Red Oak who’s “216 rings old.” This touching story explores the meaning of community while deftly focusing on the birds and animals who find shelter in the Red Oak year round. Each week from Sept. 15-Nov. 3, we will explore the garden and complete fun activities together — a little literary analysis, a bit of nature study, some artistic endeavors, science and more.
