Introduction to Beekeeping Workshop

Where: Small Farm Unit, CEFS Field Research and Outreach Facility at Cherry Research Farm, Goldsboro NC
Cost: Free Workshop conducted by Beekeepers of the Neuse and hosted by the Center for Environmental Farming Systems, Small Farm Unit and The Cooperative Extension Program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
This half-day workshop for farmers and agents focuses on learning the basics of beekeeping. This workshop will include instruction and the opportunity to view materials, products, and techniques utilized in beekeeping. The Beekeepers of the Neuse maintain the apiary at the Small Farm Unit.
Gain knowledge about adding bees to your farm operation, caring for them, and how they interact with crops.
Learn about the products utilized in beekeeping, what is necessary for a beginner set up, and how to get assistance as you start your operation.
Hear from local beekeepers who are experienced in caring for their hives and producing honey.

- How to get started in beekeeping
- Managing healthy hives
