Congratulations to Kristi Backe, a Ph.D. student in Entomology and Plant Pathology, for being awarded The Chateaubriand Fellowship as well as the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Opportunities Worldwide (GROW) award.

The Chateaubriand Fellowship is awarded by the Embassy of France in the United States to provide support for U.S. Ph.D. students to conduct research in France while the NSF GROW award also provides support for graduate research in foreign countries.

Kristi will spend the next academic year in Orléans, France, studying how the pine processionary moth, which is expanding its range with climate warming, responds to the higher temperatures found in urban areas.
