What a fantastic AI in Agriculture Conference! 🦾🌱 This week, NC State welcomed over 460 of the brightest minds in AI and agriculture from across the nation to collaborate and innovate.
Conference-goers participated in workshops, heard from leaders in the field, toured NC State’s Plant Sciences Building and Lake Wheeler Road Field Lab, networked and more. NC State students presented their work at poster sessions, elevating their research to a national audience.
“Participating in the AI in Agriculture Conference has broadened my perspective on how data-driven models can move beyond research into real-world farming applications,” said Stephen Afrifa, a graduate student in @ncstate_bae, who presented a poster on a hybrid attention-based network for broiler breeder feather condition scoring.
A big thank you to Daniela Jones, conference co-lead, and to everyone who made this incredible event possible!
Through the NC State Agricultural Institute, Despina Strates has found her home in agriculture. 🌱
Strates became interested in agriculture in high school, but wasn’t sure if she would feel like she belonged in a university agriculture program. The two-year Agricultural Institute offered a hands-on curriculum that would allow her to hone in on her interests and grow her future.
“As someone who didn’t have an ag background, I thought, ‘Maybe this could be a good way for me to get some exposure, so I can really find what my niche area of agriculture would be,’” she said.
And the institute has given her more than an environment for learning – she’s found a close-knit community. In addition to serving in a leadership role as the AGI Club’s vice president, she also helps prospective students find their path as an AGI ambassador.
