Abstract: Seed Your Future’s mission is to promote horticulture and inspire people to pursue careers working with plants and NC State has been helping SYF accomplish its mission. Through surveys and government data, enrollment in undergraduate horticultural programs is increasing around the country (reaching its highest level in ten years!), more students are arriving directly from high school, and horticultural instruction is adapting as more universities and colleges add cannabis/hemp and sustainable horticulture. Enrollment in associates degrees have been declining but may be coming back and graduate degrees are gently increasingly. Salaries are an important consideration and we have completed the first comprehensive survey of salaries at horticultural industries. Ongoing studies including a comprehensive national study of internships and the effectiveness of SYF activities and websites. Project cooperators include Jazmin Albarran, SYF, and Melinda Knuth.
