Fred Hain Receives Conservation Award

Dr. Fred Hain, Emeritus Professor of Forest Entomology, received the Governor’s Forest Conservationist of the Year Award for his efforts to save our threatened forests. Dr. Hain created the Forest Restoration Alliance in 2007 to bring back America’s forests by addressing impact of invasive species on eastern hemlock, Fraser fir and many other iconic tree species of the eastern forests. The award was presented at the NC Wildlife Federation Conference.

Bill Holman, lifelong conservationist and supporter of the forest health initiatives was inducted into the NCWF Conservationist Hall of Fame at the conference as well.
