Biography
My name is Carole Roman and I am a member of the NCSU CVM Class of 2022. I grew up in Greensboro, NC. I have always known I wanted to pursue veterinary medicine as my career and started gaining veterinary experience early in high school with a mentor at a small animal practice. I graduated from NC State in 2018 with a BS in Animal Science.
While at NC State, I was a member of a few clubs, including Pre-Vet club and club swim. However, I became most involved in VetPAC activities and research. I served as a VetPAC Intern my sophomore year, and assisted in coordinating the 2017 APVMA Symposium my junior year. I also participated in two-year research study with ewes at the NCSU Small Ruminant Unit, and presented my findings at the Undergraduate Research Symposium. I was a mentor for the WISE village during my sophomore year, and worked several hours a week at a small animal emergency hospital my junior and senior years.
I participated in two international veterinary trips through Vida Volunteers, acting as the trip coordinator during my second trip. Traveling abroad not only allowed me to practice new veterinary skills, but also helped me expand my cultural knowledge and explore various methods of and attitudes toward animal care.
