Bhavisha Gulabrai

I am from Rocky Mount, NC and have attended NC State since 2018. I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science with minors in Poultry Science and Agricultural Business Management in May 2022. I primarily worked with beef cattle throughout my undergraduate career, but gained interest in the poultry industry following a couple internships with Braswell Family Farms. I began my Masters in Poultry Science under Dr. Kiess in 2022, and am currently conducting a full cycle laying hen study. Our current project involves evaluating performance, stress, and behavior in four genetic strains of laying hens housed in a cage-free environment. I am passionate about animal agriculture, animal welfare, and consumer education. My goal is to bridge the gap between the animal agriculture industry and the general public with the hopes of spreading science-based information regarding management practices and animal welfare amongst consumers.
