Public Health Food Inspections Seminar

The Public Health Food Inspections course in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will host a seminar series featuring experts from the Food and Drug Administration’s Human Foods Program and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services. This series aims to provide insights into careers in public health food inspection and emphasize the importance of safeguarding public health. Students will have the opportunity to engage with professionals and learn about opportunities in regulatory science.
The seminar on Nov. 12 will feature Nicole Lyons, an FDA consumer safety officer. Lyons is a native of Eastern North Carolina, where she attended East Carolina University and received her master’s in environmental health in 2017. She started her career as an environmental health specialist with Raven County in 2017. She worked in food and lodging until September 2020. Lyons then joined the FDA. She is also a commissioned corps officer with the United States Public Health Service, working to protect, promote and advance the health and safety of the general public.
