The rise in cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) is a major concern for North Carolina’s livestock and poultry sectors. The discovery of an HPAI strain in dairy herds across the U.S. elevated the need for better biosecurity and greater understanding of how this virus moves and mutates.
