My name is Victoria Newberry, and I am a member of the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine Class of 2024. I’m from Dover, North Carolina, and graduated from NC State University in 2020 with a degree in Animal Science and a Minor in Spanish.
Currently, I hope to become a companion animal veterinarian, potentially specializing in oncology. VetPAC contributed a lot on my journey to becoming a veterinarian by providing plenty of exceptional opportunities to gain experience and passion for the field of veterinary medicine. My favorite experience was definitely studying abroad in South Africa with Dr. Boshoff. Gaining experience with exotic wildlife and learning more about conservation efforts for those amazing species was an invaluable opportunity. The Pre-Vet Club at NC State also provided many helpful opportunities, such as suture labs and job offers that helped me find my first veterinary assistant position. While VetPAC helped me gain many experiences with animals, NC State has so many additional ways to get involved in nearly any hobby or interest. In my case, I joined the NC State Intercollegiate Sailing Race Team and served as the Women’s Team Captain for two years, an experience that was not only incredibly fun but helped me develop as a confident leader.
