Fall Seminar Series

Beginning in September, VetPAC hosts a fortnightly series of seminars that are open to all pre-veterinary students at NCSU. Throughout the fall semester, the seminar series lasts for 4-6 lectures that explore a themed list of current topics relevant to the field of veterinary medicine. Each series is based on a theme designed to encourage career exploration and introduce pre-veterinary students to the vast array of opportunities available within the field. Previous seminar themes have included topics such as:

  • (Fall 2024) “Unique Career Pathways in Veterinary Medicine” invites students to discover unique career options in the veterinary field.
  • (Fall 2023) “Networking Events with Veterinary Professionals” allowed students to network with a diverse collection of community partners from a variety of fields; Small Animal, Large Animal, Exotic, Industry and Government.
  • (Fall 2022) “Meet the CVM Faculty and Staff” allowed students to meet the diverse faculty and staff of the CVM, and learn about their careers at NCSU.
  • (Fall 2021) “Evolving and Thriving within Veterinary Medicine” which highlighted speakers with unique career journeys and careers
  • (Fall 2020) “Where do Veterinarians Work?” which highlighted niche veterinary careers including veterinary forensics, military medicine, veterinary diagnostics and mobile practice.
  • (Fall 2019) “How-to:” a series that included instructions for interviewing at clinics, managing academic life, and finding research experiences both on and off campus.
  • (Fall 2018) “Internships,” a series featuring student speakers who shared their experiences from diverse placements, including Canine College, Feline Health, and internships in swine, poultry, and exotic animal medicine.

Fall 2025 Seminar Series: “Experiential Opportunities in Veterinary Medicine” 

Join VetPAC this fall for the opportunity learn about unique careers in veterinary medicine. The Fall 2025 Series will cover the following experiential opportunities; Research, Equine, Exotic and Small Animal Practice.  All seminars will be held in Riddick 325 from 5:30-6:30pm on Thursdays with an opportunity to attend a “meet and greet” with speakers over snacks. Students can register for the VetPAC Listserv here to receive updates and reminders about the Fall 2025 Seminar Series.

All NC State students interested in veterinary medicine are welcome and encouraged to attend.

  • September 25th: Director of Undergraduate Research (Dr. Janet Goins)
  • October 9th: NCSU CVM Equine Emergency Services (Dr. Bethanie Cooper and Dr. Megan Burke)
  • October 30th: Avian and Exotic Animal Care (Dr. Salina Locke)
  • November 13th: Clayton Animal Hospital Manager (Ms. Angela Phillips) and Care First Animal Hospital Manager (Ms. Angelica De Anda)
