Founding Funders

Partner Profile: Fair Products, Inc.

Fair Products, Inc. Logo

Fair Products, Inc. is on a mission to help farmers produce the healthiest, most resilient tobacco. Founded in 1984, the company manufactures and distributes a versatile group of tobacco crop care products available to growers of most types of tobacco. The products are tested and proven on farms, and the company relies on new innovation and research to help its farmer-clients produce profitable, quality tobacco. Frank Grainger, founder and owner of the company, tells us it’s that focus on innovation that led Fair Products to become a founding funder of the North Carolina Plant Sciences Initiative (N.C. PSI).

What is the mission of Fair Products, Inc.?

Fair Products’ mission is to service tobacco all over the world. Flue-cured, burley, dark tobacco—we are the specialists in organically grown tobacco and have the approved chemistry lines to enhance the growth and maturity of the crop while protecting the leaves against suckers and yield loss.

Why was Fair Products, Inc. interested in funding the N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative?

It is quite an honor to help NC State and N.C. PSI lead the nation and the world in modern agriculture. I’m a big advocate of public education and of the university. I want to see them to continue to succeed in educating the next generation of farmers and those working in agriculture.

What are you hoping will come out of the partnership?

I hope that the research and new advances will help the tobacco industry. And I would like to see NC State become the world center for agriculture innovation.
