Bio
Dr. Mary Fosnaught is the extension specialist for 4-H & Poultry Youth Programs. Her education includes a B.S. in Poultry Science from The Ohio State University and M.S. and Ph.D. in Poultry Nutrition from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and NC State, respectively. She provides 4-H Embryology accessibility for agents regarding training, hatching eggs and Marek’s vaccine. She directs 4-H state events including Avian Bowl, poultry judging, and leads state teams and presenters to compete at the National 4-H Poultry & Egg Conference. She directs the Poultry Science Summer Institute and Advanced PSSI as well as the annual state fair Youth Market Turkey Show. She co-leads the Poultry Pack 4-H Club at NC State and NC A&T.
Area(s) of Expertise
Dr. Fosnaught provides poultry youth programming for children 5-18 years of age and training for the agents, teachers and guardians that use these programs.
Poultry youth programs include
- 4-H state and national Poultry Judging, Avian Bowl and Cookery competitions,
- 4-H Embryology training for agents and activities for volunteers,
- Poultry Science Summer Institute (PSSI),
- the Youth Market Turkey Show, and
- new, engaging youth programs like the Poultry Pack 4-H Club, summer camps and ambassador programs.
