Academic Advisor: Dr. Samuel Mwangi

Jennifer graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree from University of Delaware in Biomedical Engineering, but has maintained her own poultry flock since middle school. Jennifer is specifically interested in genetics and breeding in layer and meat chickens and will be doing research with Dr. Mwangi in nutrition and welfare as well.

Jennifer’s current research focuses on food safety, nutrition, and welfare in broilers. She is interested in more research in auto-sexing and dual purpose breeds.

Jennifer, who has lovingly cared for her flock since middle school, is entrusting them to her parents. The flock consists of three nine-year-old hens, affectionately known as the Golden Girls, an eight-year-old runner duck, and Finn, a four-year-old Pekin duck, along with many other breeds of varying ages and personalities.
