Kari Harding

Bio

Academic Advisor: Dr. Ken Anderson

Kari Harding earned her B.S degree in Animal and Nutritional Science from West Virginia University where she was heavily involved in the poultry research lab. From there she went on to obtain her M.S., and is currently working on her Ph.D. at North Carolina State University. Kari has an extensive background in nutrition, with her M.S. focusing on the effects of different feed additives when fed to laying hens. Her currently research focuses more on stress physiology and welfare of laying hens, broilers, and turkeys.

Fun fact about me: I have hiked the entire Grand Canyon in a day and with four more miles to go, my hiking buddy had to be Medevacked out.

Area(s) of Expertise

My research focuses on stress physiology and welfare of laying hens, broilers, and turkeys. In these studies, stress is measured via corticosterone, gene expression (particularly HSP70), and blood chemistry.
