Investing in future leaders of plant science research

The Peele Scholars Fund provides new cohorts of NC State agriculture and life science students with a comprehensive education covering the full cost-of-attendance for four years and high-impact experiences to help them develop, including study abroad opportunities, internships and research stipends.

Peele Scholars hail from eastern North Carolina and are highly motivated, intellectually curious students with research and career ambitions related to the plant sciences and agriculture. Named for and funded by two-time NC State alumnus David Peele, Peele Scholarships drive vital plant science research forward for an agriculture industry that feeds, clothes and heals communities in North Carolina and beyond.

Eligibility

In accordance with the gift agreement, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Academic merit
Financial need
Enrollment in a plant sciences-focused major
Residency in one of the 39 designated eastern North Carolina counties

Alumnus Establishes Full Scholarship for Undergraduate Students in Agriculture Majors

A $10 million gift from NC State alumnus David Peele will give students from eastern North Carolina the opportunity to attend NC State’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences with the full cost of attendance covered – and spend four years immersed in the research, mentorship and experiences preparing them to lead the future of agriculture.
