Mail and Packages

Incoming mail and packages will be received by PSI staff in Room 1152 and taken to Room 1111 located near the loading dock. If you receive a notification from your delivery carrier that your package has been delivered, 99% of the time, it will either be in Room 1152 or Room 1111 (NCSU ID required for access). We ask that you retrieve mail/packages at your earliest convenience due to limited space in the room. Please give Cindy (cindy_conyers@ncsu.edu) a heads-up if you are expecting a package and will not be around to receive it immediately.

You can give them the account number and they will send you barcodes and outgoing mail slips to attach to your outgoing mail.

If you are expecting a large delivery, please try to arrange with the vendor/delivery service to call you or a designated contact upon arrival at PSB. PSI staff in Room 1152 will be on standby if needed.

Parking

The permit types closest to PSB are C (Oval Drive and Partners Way Deck), CC (Partners Way Deck), and F (north of PSB by the utility plant). A campus parking map can be found here for reference.

Employees and students can change their parking permit at any time by emailing Transportation at ncsu-transportation@ncsu.edu and requesting to change their parking permit. You will need to include your employee/student ID and your desired permit type in the body of the email. Once Transportation receives the request via email someone from their Customer Service team will reach out after processing the exchange.

PSB Room Reservations

You can reserve most* rooms within the building just as you would other buildings on campus – through your Google Calendar. There are two ways to book a room: Invite the Room or Add an invite directly to the calendar.

Invite the Room:

  • Create an event on your calendar, click more options.
  • Make the event as normal and invite all the guests, click on “Rooms” next to the guest options.
  • Scroll down to PSB and it will show all the rooms that are available for that time period.

Direct Event:

  • Scroll down and hit the plus sign next to Other Calendars, then click “Browse Resources”.
  • Scroll down to PSB and expand the list.  You can put a checkmark next to the calendars you want to add to your list.
  • Briefly, create an event on your Google calendar and navigate to “add room”.
  • Scroll down to “PSB” and you will see all the available rooms within the Plant Sciences Building. If you encounter any issues, let us know.

Remember that in the NCSU system, the abbreviation for Plant Sciences Building is “PSB”

*In order to reserve any of the PSB event spaces (Seminar Rooms [1322A-C], 3rd Floor Conference Rooms [3152, 3158] or the 4th Floor Boardroom [4152]) you will have to fill out this Event Space Inquiry Form. A submission through the Event Space Inquiry Form is the only way to reserve the these event spaces in the Plant Sciences Building.

You will not be able to directly reserve any of these rooms in Google Calendar.

There is a
PSB Equipment Google Drive folder with information and resources on this equipment, including equipment manuals, quick start guides and training videos. Please contact Jie for training, questions and troubleshooting.

Poster Printing

For research and sponsored projects associated with Plant Sciences, please visit this site to queue your job submission.
We ask that all poster printing requests be submitted at least 5 business days prior to the requested fulfillment day. This will provide IT staff enough time to review the design, and submit proofs and drafts prior to final job submission. In the referenced link, you’ll also find image recommendations and campus best practices related to poster printing.
If you are requesting poster printing for a non-PSI associated project, please continue to use the established centralized printing services provided by your college.
Please note that there may be a fee assessed for this service depending on the quantity of posters requested, rush order status, and other factors.

AV Support in the PSB

If you have A/V needs for a meeting or event, submit the request to cals_facil@help.ncsu.edu as soon as possible in advance. This will create a Service-Now ticket in the AV team’s queue. Be sure to respond to their follow-up email.

To mitigate potential AV issues during an event or meeting in the PSB, test your technology in the meeting room in advance whenever possible.

If you encounter AV issues the day-off your event or meeting, call CALS IT at 919-515-6777 and select Option 2. If no one is available to answer when you call, leave a voicemail and someone will follow up as quickly as possible.

Building Tours

There is a tremendous amount of interest in seeing this building from various stakeholder groups across the state and beyond. We plan to be conducting many tours of the building for the foreseeable future. When possible, we will try to give notice to PSB occupants of large tours or if VIPs are in the building.

It is important that we are sensitive to any concerns your lab may have for tour groups potentially coming through your space. If you or your program have concerns with this and would rather us not come through your lab area or specific rooms, please let Geoff Bock and Adrian Percy know and we will plan accordingly.

For any questions regarding building tours, or if you would be interested in assistance from PSI staff to help lead a tour for your group and/or guests, please contact Geoff Bock at grbock@ncsu.edu.
