SUMMER 2026

Kelsey Kusi

I spent my summer in Nagoya, Japan, conducting research at Nagoya University in Dr. Kenji Ichiyanagi’s Laboratory of Genome and Epigenome Dynamics under the guidance of Torahiko Yamanaka. My research focused on the epigenetic regulation of meiotic recombination in mice to understand how genes such as Dnmt3l and Setdb1 influence DNA recombination during meiosis. Through immunofluorescence microscopy and mouse models, I gained hands-on experience with techniques that deepened my understanding of genetics, molecular biology, and scientific research.
