Ford Earns NC State GSA Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award
We are delighted to announce that Jillian Ford, a teaching assistant in the agricultural and extension education program, has been honored with the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award from NC State Graduate Student Association. This award recognizes graduate students who exemplify the highest degree of teaching achievement in the classroom or laboratory environment at NC State.
Ford has been serving as a teaching assistant for Dr. Misty Lambert‘s classes for the past two years, during which she has worked with eight different sections of students. Her dedication and commitment to her role have been exemplary, and it is no surprise that she has been recognized for her outstanding contribution to teaching. In her nomination letter, Dr. Lambert wrote “I have never met a teaching assistant who is more prepared, organized, or punctual. She has never been late or missed a deadline – never. I can see that she has built rapport with the students. Beyond what I can see in the classroom when they ask questions of her, I can also see the continued relationship with many of our students. She has established herself as a trustworthy source of information.”
Upon receiving the award, Ford stated “I am honored to be recognized as an Outstanding Teaching Assistant through the NC State Graduate Student Association! I have enjoyed getting to know the current agricultural education undergraduate and masters students through my role as a teaching assistant and seeing their growth throughout these courses. I look forward to continuing in the department for one more year!” Ford is currently pursuing her doctorate of education in agricultural and extension education and hopes to secure a job at a university as a teacher educator. She wants to contribute to the development of the next generation of school-based agricultural education teachers, and we have no doubt that she will achieve her goals with her passion and dedication. Please join us in congratulating Jillian on this well-deserved achievement.
