Huntington named Animal Science Fellow

The American Society of Animal Science has honored Dr. Gerald Huntington, professor emeritus in the Department of Animal Science, for his contributions to animal science. Huntington accepted the society’s Fellow Award July 9 during the organization’s annual meeting in Indianapolis.

Dr. Marshall Stewart, special assistant to the dean and associate director of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, has been named director of the Food Systems Leadership Institute, succeeding Dr. Ken Swartzel, who has directed the institute since it was founded and is retiring.

Postdoctoral program aims for greater faculty diversity

When Dr. Terrence Gardner was hired, he became the first African-American postdoctoral researcher in the College in nearly a decade, which is why the Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellowship was created. The fellowship provides outstanding scholars from underrepresented groups with an opportunity that might not otherwise be available.
