This course is designed to introduce students to physiology (function) and anatomy (structure), emphasizing livestock species. Students will gain a basic understanding of body systems, including skeletal, muscular, nervous, sensory, endocrine, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, and urinary systems, and their relevance in maintaining homeostasis. Students will also study slides, paint muscles on a horse model, perform blood tests and perform dissections in anatomy. Aside from studying physiology and anatomy, students will work at a chicken farm and shadow local veterinarians.
