2021 CALS Distinguished and Outstanding Alumni Honored

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ 2020 and 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award winners were honored Sept. 18 during a ceremony at NC State’s Close-King Indoor Practice Facility. The CALS Alumni and Friends Society also presented Outstanding Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni awards, which recognize excellence and the achievements of former students in their careers and communities.

Marlee Trandel: Research with Heart

Dr. Marlee Trandel is a postdoctoral research scholar at the Plant for Human Health Institute (PHHI) which focuses on plant production, physiology/postharvest physiology and plant cell wall chemistry. Trandel's doctoral candidate research into watermelon hollow heart disorder has recently gained recognition for advances in fruit tissue firmness.
