Bio

I provide departmental communication, particularly through our social media channels and website. I greatly enjoy the creativity involved in video and graphic design projects.

Sharing science with others has been the focus of my career. Prior to joining NC State I worked as an environmental educator for 10 years, connecting people of all ages with the natural world in informal educational settings. I am interested in inquiry and place-based learning. I enjoy being outside, whether I am dip netting for macroinvertebrates with fourth graders, learning bee nutritional preferences with Master Gardeners or bird banding in the early morning.

I enjoy working at a major university such as NC State because I am a life-long learner and continue to explore!

In my free time, I am a wildlife photographer and a birder. I have over 540 species of birds on my life list!

If you have departmental news or events to share, please email me at hdfrantz@ncsu.edu. Follow the Applied Ecology department on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube!
