Fisheries Extension
Extension efforts in fisheries are focused primarily on meeting the needs of these client groups:
- county extension agents
- natural resource agency personnel
- pond owners and the general public
- school teachers
- youth (4-H and K-12)
We educate county agents, agency personnel, and pond owners on fisheries and aquatic issues through seminars and field days, provide direct technical assistance to individuals, and disseminate information through basic training, concise educational materials (booklets and videos) and a comprehensive fisheries extension website.
Applied research on reservoir and marine fisheries management provides specialized assistance to NC Wildlife Resources Commission and NC Division of Marine Fisheries Biologists and NC Sea Grant agents on management issues via frequent collaborative interactions and service on various regional and state advisory committees.
