Most parasites can infect multiple host species, often with a primary host and a series of alternative host species. Because these multi-host parasites can spread through complicated interspecific webs, understanding the community ecology of these host-parasite interactions is critical for understanding transmission dynamics. I study the fecal-orally transmitted parasite Crithidia bombi and its spillback potential from alternative hosts to its primary host, the bumble bee.
