Bio

Andrew Waaswa is a doctoral candidate in the Agricultural and Extension Education Program with a minor in Crop Science at North Carolina State University. He holds a Master of Science in Agricultural Extension from Egerton University, Kenya, and his MSc research investigated the determinants of potato farmers’ adoption of Climate-Smart Agriculture Technologies, Innovations, and Management Practices (TIMPs) in Kenya. He attained his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Rural Innovation from Makerere University, Uganda, and his undergraduate action research project focused on using locally available innovations (stone-contained tins) to control pest birds and enhance rice yields among rice farmers in Kamuli District, Uganda.

Andrew serves as a graduate research and teaching assistant in the Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences. He has worked as a resource assistant intern with the USDA Forest Service Southeast Climate Hub, a graduate assistant in the Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project at Egerton University, and an agronomist and farm manager with All Green Agro Africa Limited of the Industrial Promotion Services in Uganda.
