First Ph.D. Graduate Endows Professorship in Biological and Agricultural Engineering

Professor Emeritus Charlie Suggs spent his 90th birthday the same way he had spent many other days: making a lasting impact on NC State's Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering. This time, he and his wife, Jane, created an endowed professorship.

Sanjay Shah sees the potential of solar energy use in livestock barn heating, not only for reducing heating fuel use but also improving the indoor air quality. So he is working to test a low-cost solar air heating technology that could have an immediate impact on poultry and pig producers.
