NC State releases first Agromedicine Dictionary

Dr. Ernest Hodgson, professor emeritus from NC State University, and colleagues have released the first Dictionary of Agromedicine, available online. The dictionary provides agromedicine practitioners with a common language for their field and defines agromedicine as a discipline of its own.

Basketball fans attending the 10th annual NC State Wolfpack women’s Hoops 4Hope game on Sunday, Feb. 22, will wear their traditional pink, but they’ll also have a chance to eat a little pink for a good cause. NC State University Howling Cow® Ice Cream will debut a one-time edition flavor, “Kay Yow Pink Peppermint,” at the 10th Annual Hoops 4Hope basketball game

Elaine Marshall inducted into the National 4-H Hall of Fame

N.C. Secretary of State Elaine Marshall was inducted into the National 4-H Hall of Fame this past October, in recognition of her lifetime achievements and contributions to 4-H. Honored by the North Carolina 4-H Youth Development Program, Marshall was among 14 people inducted during the ceremony at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center in Chevy Chase, Md.

ESP tours environmental farming center during annual meeting

Cows, calves and hoop houses were among the attractions at the Center for Environmental Farming Systems, as North Carolina's Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi toured the center last month. The tour was part of ESP Xi Chapter's annual meeting, held over lunch at the extension center in nearby Johnston County.

N.C. Local Food Council meets in Triad this week

The Local Food Council of North Carolina is bringing together more than 100 local food council delegates from across the state Dec. 4-5 at at BioTech Place, 575 N Patterson Ave. in Winston-Salem. The event, Connecting for the Future: A Gathering of NC Food Councils, will attract delegates from more than 36 local groups and approximately 24 state organizations and agencies.
