NC Extension Employee Appreciation Week – May 8 -12

In conjunction with the the university’s Employee Appreciation Week, we are sharing some ideas for our Extension Centers to use to celebrate every member of our organization. It is a great time to take a moment to say “thank you” and to appreciate each other and promote team building.

Themed Days and Activities During Employee Appreciation Week

May 8 – Memories Monday
May 8, 1914 was the day that Cooperative Extension was born when Woodrow Wilson signed the Smith-Lever Act. How different would the world be, and our lives, without our organization? Take a moment to send a note of thanks to someone who introduced you to Extension, who may have encouraged you to go to college or to pursue a career in Extension. Sharing your career in Extension with someone on this day is also a great thing to do to pay that good deed forward!

May 9 – Thankful Tuesday
Share your appreciation and gratitude with members of the Pack who positively affect your work day. Send Paws and Say Thanks cards to colleagues, and look at the Recognition Toolbox on the UHR website to learn about other appreciation activities, strategies and practices.

May 10 –Work/Life Balance Wednesday
Take some time away from work today to do something that you enjoy. Or just take a little time from your busy schedule to be mindful, relax, and reflect. Make a plan for incorporating little moments and activities into your workday that make you feel happy and rejuvenated.

May 11 – Team-Building Thursday
Take some time to do something together as a team, whether it is enjoying a cup of coffee or snack, going for a walk together, anything you would enjoy doing as a team! Upload photos and descriptions here so we can all enjoy the fun!

May 12 – Funday Friday
Grab your brown bag and join Extension Administration for a virtual lunch hour at 12:00PM on Zoom! Expect fun and prizes!

Also, Extension Administration is planning to keep the celebration going during our upcoming Fall District Meetings so please mark your calendars:

North Central District – October 26
Northeast District – November 8
Southeast District – November 16
South Central District – November 30
West District – December 7
