A Major Birth Announcement: BS in Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems
“Global food and agriculture challenges are complex, and not solved by a single discipline.” Dr. Michelle Schroeder-Moreno explains how the brand new Crop and Soil Sciences major, Bachelor of Science in Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems came to be. “It’s cross departmental with Horticulture—a true multi-disciplinary degree. The resources and expertise of both departments provides students with something more.”

Sustainable Agriculture Graduate Student Association Names Officers
Several dozen students from various CALS departments met at Williams Hall last week for a catered lunch and the semester’s first meeting of the Sustainable Agriculture Graduate Student Association (SAGSA).

Architecture Students Design, Build
The project is a boost to offering more campus-grown food in campus dining halls. NC State’s Agroecology Education Farm off Lake Wheeler Road has grown produce for NC State Dining for several years, but in order to maximize harvests, the farm needed a facility where produce could be washed and refrigerated until transport to dining halls.
Grady Miller named 2017 ASA Fellow
