In addition, he is an International Scholar at Kyung Hee University, Seoul, South Korea. He obtained his BS (Physiology) with Laude, his M.S. in Physiopathology and his Ph.D. in Cellular Physiology and Neuroimmuno-Physiology from the University of Siena, Italy.

His research has been focused in understanding the cellular and molecular redox mechanisms that define the tissues physio-pathological responses to endogenous and exogenous factors (Exposome)  with special focus on target tissues such as skin and respiratory tract.

He is the author of over 300 peer reviewed international manuscripts, 20 book chapters, and 4 books. He has been a member of the Society of Free Radical Research -Europe (SFRR-Europe) Council from 2017 to 2021. From 2023 he is the SFRR-Europe President Elect.
