Concentrations

Make yourself even more marketable by adding another area of focus to your degree program. From poultry to field crops, we offer five unique concentrations.

Agribusiness Management

Students can earn the Agribusiness Management concentration after completing 12 credits. It is awarded in conjunction with the fulfillment of degree requirements of a major in the Agricultural Institute other than agribusiness management. Students interested in declaring an agribusiness management concentration must complete a concentration application before their last semester.

Satisfactory completion of the concentration will be noted on the final transcript following graduation. At least 6 of the 12 credits must be through coursework in the Agricultural Institute. In addition, successful completion of the following courses is required to complete the concentration in Agribusiness Management:

  • ARE 106 (Agribusiness Law): 3 credit hours
  • ARE 104 (Agricultural Business Management): 3 credit hours
  • ARE 132 (Management of Personnel): 3 credit hours
  • ARE 1** (Any ARE course not previously selected): 3 credit hours

Field Crop Production

Required:

  • CS 111 (Field Crop Production): 4 credit hours

Choose 6 credit hours from the list below:

  • CS 151 (Forage Production): 3 credit hours
  • CS 162 (Tobacco Production): 1 credit hour
  • CS 163 (Peanut Production): 1 credit hour
  • CS 164 (Soybean Production): 1 credit hour
  • CS 165 (Cotton Production): 1 credit hour
  • CS 166 (Corn Production): 1 credit hour
  • CS 167 (Small Grain Production): 1 credit hour

Choose 1 of the following:

  • CS 124 (Agriculture & Seeds): 2 credit hours
  • CS 152 (Weed Control Field Crops): 3 credit hours

Livestock, Swine, and Poultry Management

The Department of Animal Science and the Prestage Department of Poultry Science offers three concentrations. These concentrations allow students in majors other than Livestock and Poultry Management (LPM) to receive specialized livestock, poultry, and swine management training. Students interested in declaring a Livestock, Poultry, or Swine Management Concentration must complete a Concentration Application before their last semester. Satisfactory completion of the Concentration will be noted on the final transcript following graduation. At least 6 of the 12 credits must be through coursework in the Agricultural Institute Program. In addition, successful completion of the following courses is required to complete the Concentration in Livestock, Poultry, or Swine Management.

General Livestock Management Concentration

  • ANS 101 (Intro to Animal and Poultry Industries): 3 credit hours
  • ANS 102 (Animal Feeds and Nutrition): 3 credit hours
  • ANS/PO 1** (Animal/Poultry Science Elective): 3 credit hours
  • ANS/PO 1** (Animal/Poultry Science Elective): 3 credit hours
