New Chair Unites Two Colleges on the International Stage

Owens Distinguished Chair in International Economics, to be held jointly between the Poole College of Management and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, will advance cross-college collaboration and the university’s international reputation. Researchers have developed portable technology that allows farmers to identify plant diseases in the field. The handheld device, which is plugged into a smartphone, works by sampling the airborne volatile organic compounds that plants release through their leaves.
