Bio

Casey Collins serves as a Diabetes Prevention Program Coordinator for the Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes program, a collaborative effort of NC State University and the NC Division of Public Health. Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes is a 12-month diabetes prevention program with CDC recognition offered in both in-person and online formats. Casey provides a wide variety of programmatic support to the Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes program and the statewide project called NC Prevents Diabetes.

Prior to working with Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes, Casey worked as a health educator for a grant-funded program called Go Wayne Go that promoted physical activity and healthy eating in Wayne County. Go Wayne Go operated under the health education department of the non-profit free clinic, Wayne Action Teams for Community Health (W.A.T.C.H.), in Goldsboro, NC.

Her professional and academic interests include health promotion, chronic disease prevention, health equity, and healthcare quality improvement. In her spare time, Casey enjoys hiking with her husband and dog, listening to podcasts, quilting, and traveling.
