Developing Educational Leaders and Teachers of Agriculture (DELTA)

New Agricultural Teacher Induction Program

The Agricultural and Extension Education faculty and the State Agricultural Education/FFA staff work together to provide training to new agricultural education teachers through the Developing Educational Leaders and Teachers of Agriculture (DELTA) program.

The North Carolina Board of Education requires every provisionally certified teacher to participate in an induction program during his or her first three years of teaching. The DELTA Part I and II trainings each consist of a two-day packed agenda providing new teachers the opportunity to learn from master teachers from the field, AEE faculty, the state agricultural education/FFA staff and from the collaboration with peers.

During 2016, 23 teachers participated in the Part II spring meeting and 31 participated in Part II fall meeting. Although only required for provisionally licensed teachers, this program has become popular with new teachers both fully licensed as well as those working toward a license.
