AHS Welcomes, Awards, Recognitions, and Farewells

We are so thankful for our AHS family! Today we would like to express proper gratitude by acknowledging the many achievements made by our phenomenally hardworking faculty and staff. We would also like to send proper goodbyes to our AHS colleagues, whose time has ended. We wish them all the best and can’t wait to see what they accomplish next. 

Welcomes

Awards and Recognitions

  • Youth, Family, and Community Services and Agricultural and Extension Education have officially merged to create the academic program for Agricultural Education and Human Sciences. Look for additional information coming soon!
  • AHS has finalized the move back to Ricks Hall this month. Come and take a tour!
  • Sarah Kirby received the Distinguished Service Award from the Housing Education & Research Association.
  • Joy Morgan (Outstanding Young Alumni) and Laura Parker (Outstanding Alumni) both received the CALS Alumni awards.
  • Several members of AHS and N.C. Cooperative Extension agents had the opportunity to present at the recent NEAFCS conference while some received awards.
  • The department recently held its first study-abroad course in Barcelona and the Camino de Santiago.

Research

  • AHS faculty and staff published a multitude of research this summer. Read more about their research here.
  • Basheerah Enahora and Virginia Stage will be Co-Investigators and NC State leads for the new CDC-funded Health Extension for Diabetes (HED) program.

Departures

  • Ariel Fisher left the SNAP program on August 7.
  • Erin Langdale departed the NC HHA state staff team on August 29.  We appreciate her service to NC Agricultural Education and FFA and wish her the best in the future.
  • Alston Blondin departed the Operation Homeport program.
  • Megan Blanke’s last day with the NC Ag Ed/FFA State Staff was September 8. She served NC Agricultural Education and FFA for more than 11 years. We appreciate Megan’s service and wish her the best in her new endeavors!
  • Malakai Erskine departed the Operation Homeport program.
  • Efren Maldonado left the More In My Basket program on October 10.
