AEE Doctoral Student Wins Award at the 2021 CFSAN Honor Awards
Jodi Riedel, a doctoral student in agricultural and Extension education, was part of a team awarded the “Team Spirit Award” at the 2021 Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) Honor Awards program. The team received the honor for their inclusion of multi-state and diversity of participants during the COVID pandemic.
This was a collaborative effort with teachers across the country; Riedel was previously an agriculture and food science teacher at Wakefield High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. After attending the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Science and Our Food Supply experience in Washington, D.C., in 2015, she was asked to represent their organization at the National Science Teachers Association conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2019. After Riedel’s continued success, she was asked to write the curriculum for the group.
As the only group member from North Carolina, Reidel represented the state and NC State University exceptionally. Congratulations to Jodi Riedel and we wish her continued success in our department.
