Bio
Erin McCallum serves as the Data Manager for the Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes program and the Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less program. Both programs are a collaborative effort of NC State University and the NC Division of Public Health (NCDPH). In this role, Erin provides programmatic support through data reporting and analysis, program evaluation, and technical support.
Prior to her current role, Erin worked with a research nonprofit conducting clinical oncology research with U.S. Veterans at the Durham VA Hospital. She contributed to a study focused on the effect of a specific hormonal therapy on Veteran’s self-reported movement, activity, nutrition, and sleep levels, among other factors, with the goal of designing an exercise intervention promoting consistent movement and communal support among Veterans during cancer treatment.
Erin earned her MPH from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health with a concentration in Global Health. Her studies primarily focused on program monitoring and evaluation, often in the context of global reproductive health, global mental health, and forced displacement. Prior to this, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Her professional interests include adverse health outcome prevention, health education, and research dissemination. In her free time she enjoys yoga, reading, attending concerts, beach trips, and taking an excessive amount of photos of her two cats, Sprout and Squeaks.
