SEE Inside Greek Agriculture
Ready to join another session of Science, Education, and Extension (SEE) Inside Greek Agriculture, an NC State Study Abroad Program for May 2025? SEE Inside Greek Agriculture promises an enriching exploration of farms, food production, agricultural practices, agricultural education, and extension services. Immerse yourself in Greek culture as you explore food markets, monasteries, ancient relics, and museums!
This exciting program is set to run from May 10 to 25, 2025, taking you on a captivating journey through the enchanting cities of Thessaloniki, Litochoro, Trikala, Ioannina, and Athens, Greece. Your adventure will commence in Thessaloniki, where you will be accommodated at the American Farm School/Perrotis College. Throughout the program, you will stay in the college residence hall in Thessaloniki as well as local hotels while traveling from Thessaloniki to Athens. Each day will be filled with enlightening lectures and captivating field trips, offering you insights into various facets of agriculture, including fruit, meat, and vegetable markets; animal welfare; the grape and wine industry; the Greek Mediterranean Diet; food labeling and composition; aromatic herbs; and dairy, honey, and olive oil production. Highlights include various tasting events and sensory analysis of olive oil. Beyond academic pursuits, you will fully embrace Greek culture through Greek dance lessons and explore iconic landmarks like Mount Olympus, Delphi, Acropolis Hill, Parthenon, museums, and more!
